Last year, the Chicago Bears made headlines by trading star linebacker Roquan Smith to the Baltimore Ravens, and it looks like there could be another blockbuster trade brewing in the league ahead of this year’s trade deadline.

According to a report from league insider Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Minnesota Vikings are “receiving calls” from teams interested in trading for star pass rusher Danielle Hunter, who currently leads the NFL in sacks.

“Teams have been calling the Vikings about potentially trading for Hunter, sources say, with the team leader in sacks likely one of the top players who could be moved at the deadline. Picking up the phone and listening makes sense for Minnesota,” Rapoport wrote on Sunday morning.

“Hunter has a year left on his contract, and with the team’s record at 2-4, great players on expiring deals draw interest. A playoff-ready team with a need on the edge could step in.”

It would obviously be massive news across the league if the Vikings were to trade Hunter to a potential championship contender, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it as a result.

We’ll have to see if this blockbuster trade ultimately comes to fruition.
