Getting to the Super Bowl is difficult enough for an NFL team, but maintaining the talent on the roster to get there multiple times is even more difficult. And the Philadelphia Eagles are learning that this offseason as they might lose star cornerback Darius Slay.

Darius Slay is in the final year of his contract, but it looks like his time with the team could be coming to a close. According to a report from Philadelphia Eagles insider Dianna Russini, he has just been given permission to seek a trade to another team – though the Eagles still hope to find a way to keep him on the roster.

“The Philadelphia Eagles have allowed Darius Slay’s agent Drew Rosenhaus to seek a trade, per sources. The Eagles are still hopeful to find a solution where Slay remains an Eagle,” Russini

The move is likely due to salary cap issues for the Philadelphia Eagles as the team tries to put together its roster for next season.

Either way, it’s an absolutely massive update involving one of the top players on one of the top teams in the NFL. As a result, the NFL world had plenty to say about the news on Twitter.

We’ll have to see if the Eagles can find a way to bring him back, after all.
