Anyone who has watched the New York Jets can come to a similar conclusion; Darrelle Revis has seen his best days fall behind him as receivers continue to pass beyond him. Revis island is a distant memory these days with the Jets, and one source close to Revis has informed New York Daily News the veteran has pretty much phoned it in.

Yikes.

“He’s done,” a Revis confidant told the Daily News. “If he had his way, he’d be done right now. He doesn’t want to play anymore. He’s made a lot of money.”

[…]

While he can’t say for certain what Revis is thinking, the Revis confidant put the cornerback’s season this way: “He tanked it.”

That is quite a strong accusation to make, if we want to call it that. Revis has certainly not been having a great year, and he plays a position that can be exposed quickly once a veteran player starts to lose his edge. As if the Jets already didn’t have enough drama surrounding them (which they always seem to have an abundance of), this story could become yet another distraction of sorts.

As you might imagine, Twitter is erupting over this development.

Of course, then there is this guy who seems to support Revis who lacks a basic understanding that some people are not on Twitter 24 hours a day and might miss something…

Whether true, fair or not, Revis is now essentially being labeled a quitter, and he will have to confront that accusation that is now out in the public. That’s never good for any player, even if it is true in any way.

Of course, who could blame Revis if he did quit on this Jets team?
