The Las Vegas Raiders overcame all odds in Week 9 to beat the New York Giants. And after the victory, the team celebrated in the locker room with cigars, a celebration that was much needed for the team according to star wide receiver Davante Adams.

Several massive changes occurred within the organization before the game. Both head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler were fired just days before the game. And veteran quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was benched for rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell.

Coming away with a victory under these circumstances coming into the week is obviously very impressive, which is exactly what prompted the cigar celebration according to Adams.

“It’s definitely different,” Adams told reporters about the celebration often times kept for championship victories by most teams. “But at the end of the day, anybody that has dealt with the type of adversity as we have this year. They’ll never understand why we had that feeling and why it led to cigars being lit in the locker room. It was definitely warranted for something like that to happen.”

It obviously hasn’t been the best season for Las Vegas, which prompted their drastic changes at head coach and general manager.

Their win in Week 9 may not turn around their season completely, but it certainly has to be a morale boost to win in the first game of interim head coach Antonio Pierce.

They will look to keep the ball rolling in Week 10 when they face off against the New York Jets, which will likely be a winnable game for Las Vegas given the Jets’ notable struggles in their own right this season.
