Heading into the 2023 NFL Draft, Ohio State Buckeyes star offensive tackle Dawand Jones was projected by many to be a first-round pick, but was unanimously projected to be selected in the first two days of the draft, which covers the first and second rounds. Obviously, that was not the case as he wasn’t picked until the fourth round – and now we might have a good idea of why.
According to a report from NFL insider Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, Jones began to tumbled down teams’ boards before the draft as his predraft process went “as sideways as possible.”
“Fourth-rounder Dawand Jones’s predraft process went as sideways as possible (constant weight questions, handling of the Senior Bowl and pro day, telling teams his dream was to play in the NBA, not the NFL), but the fourth round was a good place to bet on his immense talent,” Breer revealed
It’s a pretty brutal turn of events for Jones, who started two seasons for the Buckeyes at right tackle, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it.
He’s not 359 lbs…
He weighed in at 374 lbs at the combine …
then refused to weigh-in at his pro-day … which probably means he weighed even heavier

Ultimately, Jones was selected in the fourth round of the NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns where he will have a chance to prove plenty of teams wrong about him.
