It’s been a rough go of things for the 4-3 Buffalo Bills, who are coming off a huge loss to the New England Patriots. And now they’re losing a key member of their offense.
Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported Thursday that the Bills are placing tight end Dawson Knox on injured reserve with a wrist injury suffered in Buffalo’s 25-20 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, Oct. 8 in London. Knox, who was playing through the injury, has opted to undergo surgery, which already saw him sidelined for Thursday Night Football against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Going on injured reserve means that Knox will be out for at least four games; Buffalo’s next four games are against the Buccaneers, Cincinnati Bengals, Denver Broncos, and New York Jets.
Garafolo notes that “When Sean McDermott said it was unclear how long #Bills TE Dawson Knox would be out, the thought was he might be back in under four weeks. Post-surgery, it was determined IR and four weeks at least was the smart route to go.”

Knox, 26, is fifth in receptions for the Bills this season with 15. He also had 120 receiving yards and one touchdown.
The 2022 Pro Bowl selection was second on the team in receptions (48) and third on the team in receiving touchdowns (6) in 2022.
With Knox out, it’s an opportunity for promising tight end Dalton Kincaid to see an increased role for Buffalo. Kincaid was selected by the Bills in the first round (25th overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft after being named a First-Team All-Pac 12 selection with the Utah Utes in 2022. He has 25 receptions for 193 yards this season.
