DeAndre Hopkins finally wore out his welcome with the Arizona Cardinals.
The star wide receiver battled injuries and served a PED-related suspension the past couple of years, carried a huge contract and spurred trade rumors in recent months. Just this week he overlooked Cards quarterback Kyler Murray by not mentioning him when asked to name QBs he most wants throwing him passes.
The Cardinals finally released the 30-year-old Hopkins Friday. Later in the day, the five-time Pro Bowl player sent a farewell tweet, simply noting, “Thank you AZ, always LOVE!”
Fans around the NFL responded by lobbying for him to join their team.
