Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has been a persistent figure in trade rumors this off-season. Hopkins, who turns 31 in June, has been linked to several potential destinations like Kansas City, Buffalo, and New England. The Patriots were among those rumored to want DeAndre Hopkins and he discussed his frenetic off-season recently on the I Am Athlete podcast.

Hopkins, transcribed by Zack Cox of NESN, said on the rumors, “I’ve heard a lot of rumors of people calling. I would definitely say the Patriots were one of the teams. … I didn’t have direct conversations,” Hopkins admitted. “But seeing what’s on (social media), you’ve got to pay attention to some of those things.”

The Patriots have often been a hotbed for rumored receiver trades and acquisitions. Mainly when they featured the legendary Tom Brady. In the past, Calvin Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald have been two names discussed in potential trades with the Patriots. And now, even though Brady is long gone, the team is still among the most prominent suitors for accomplished receivers.

In 145 career games, Hopkins has recorded 853 receptions, 11,298 yards, and scored 71 receiving touchdowns. He’s been named to the Pro Bowl 5 times and is a three-time All-Pro. DeAndre Hopkins has surely been one of the best receivers in the league, so it’s no surprise that many teams like the Patriots want his services.
