The San Francisco 49ers (11-3) are simply unbeatable right now.
But … are they still not presenting their best version on the field? Not according to Deebo Samuel.
“As we continue to stack these games, stack these wins, we could just — we’re still not playing to our best potential and still leaving stuff out there on the field,” the 49ers wide receiver said on Up & Adams.

“There’s things that neither you know or people out there know — it’s just like, within the building that we know we have to work on for,” he said. “It’s like, just little things of — one block here would spring Christian [McCaffrey] three — probably three, four more times, so a block here would have got Brock [Purdy] a little more time in the pocket to throw another ball. It’s just little things like that.”
The two players Samuel mentioned are MVP candidates for the season, with head coach Kyle Shanahan continuing to show off his offensive genius filled to the brim with talent on that side of the ball.
And let’s be honest, none of us had Brock Purdy, the former Mr. Irrelevant, making his way toward the prestigious honor. However, his 119 passer rating and 29 touchdowns lead the NFL. Over this season, he’s tallied 3,795 passing yards and 9.9 yards per attempt.
As for his running back, he’s got the names of Tom Brady and Peyton Manning endorsing his MVP campaign.
“I remember the first time I actually got a glimpse of Christian was in the Rose Bowl,” Brady said on his Let’s Go! podcast. “He caught like an angle pass against Iowa and ran for about a 75-yard touchdown. I was like, ‘Well, they’re not gonna catch him!'” Brady said.
“He was a dynamic player then. He is a dynamic player now, and I think all of what he’s done this year is a lot what he’s done in the past. It’s a different team with some different opportunities, and they’ve been really dynamic on offense. So he is definitely, in my mind, the MVP favorite.”
