During Sunday night’s game, Denver Broncos quarterback Teddy Bridgewater suffered a scary injury in a scene in which he was knocked unconscious and needed to be immobilized with a backboard and stretcher to be removed from the field. Thankfully, he was released from a Denver hospital on Monday and is now working under the NFL’s concussion protocol.
The Broncos take on the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday and Drew Lock is expected to be the starter. However, the Broncos are shoring up their quarterback ranks as well, signing Anthony Gordon to their practice squad.
With Teddy Bridgewater likely out this week with a concussion, the #Broncos added an arm, signing former Washington State QB Anthony Gordon to the practice squad.

Gordon played for Washington State for two years and threw for 5,579 yards and 48 touchdowns in 2019 as part of Mike Leach’s Air Raid system. He signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2020 but was waived before the season. He also signed a reserve/futures contract with the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this year but was cut before the season began. He worked out for the New England Patriots earlier this season but didn’t get an offer.
It seems unlikely that Gordon will see the field this weekend but given the way the COVID-19 protocols are filling up, you never know. We’ve seen quite a few backups and recent signees play in games this week so far.
Along with Lock, the Broncos also have Brett Rypien, though head coach Vic Fangio has made it very clear he has no intention to start Rypien.
Vic Fangio was asked whether or not he’d give any consideration to starting Brett Rypien this week, with Teddy unlikely to play.

The Broncos will put their faith in Drew Luck this weekend, which, doesn’t seem to be something they like doing. But we’ll see if Gordon gets the chance, this week or another, to prove himself on the field.
