The New Orleans Saints officially introduced new quarterback Derek Carr on Saturday. The Saints and Carr agreed to terms on a new deal after the Las Vegas Raiders released their 2014 draftee. But now, nobody can stop talking about an absurd promise he just made.

Carr told reporters, “I can’t promise wins, but I promise you a great effort,” as Saints News lead writer John Hendrix tweeted.

Granted, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with being realistic. The Saints are in an interesting spot in the NFC South. It’s a wide-open division now that Tom Brady retired from the NFL. With Carr aboard, with the Atlanta Falcons looking lowly, and the Carolina Panthers likely starting a rookie QB, the Saints may have an edge with Carr aboard.

But it’s not enough for some fans as Derek Carr may soon realize.

It did not stop others from joking and roasting the promise made by Carr. There was plenty of it going on after Hendrix tweeted the quote.

One of Carr’s new teammates tried to swoop in and take the heat off him. Star defensive lineman Cameron Jordan tweeted, “Lemme finish it for him… But he’s coming in Wit the mindset to WIN every rep, every opportunity.”

Unfortunately, once that avalanche rang off, there was nothing anyone could do to stop it, much to Jordan and Carr’s dismay.
