Derek Carr and the New Orleans Saints could be a match this off-season. Carr is all but openly flirting with the Saints as the Las Vegas Raiders intend to either trade or cut their now-former franchise QB. Thursday brought a new revelation into the saga as Carr is still reportedly in New Orleans.

New Orleans Football head writer Nick Underhill reported that Carr returned to New Orleans‘ headquarters. Yesterday, according to Underhill, he spent a very long time at the facility.

“Derek Carr is back at Saints headquarters today. Yesterday’s meeting wrapped up around 10:30 p.m.,” Underhill tweeted.

According to Pro Football Talk, “Carr received permission to meet with New Orleans from the Raiders earlier this week. It’s the first team Carr has met with since it became clear that Las Vegas intended to move on from its longtime quarterback.”

Carr holds the option to extend the deadline for $40.4 million in guarantees to kick in, but he has said he doesn’t plan to. So, in effect, the Raiders have two choices: Trade Carr, likely to New Orleans, or release him. PFT reported that Carr is likelier to get cut in this scenario.

The Saints were expected to be QB-needy and getting Carr would be a big coup for them. Considering the status of the rest of the division, getting a player of the caliber of Derek Carr would be a big win.
