Derek Carr

Derek Carr was on fire in Las Vegas Thursday afternoon, both with his arm and his sense of humor.

The veteran quarterback rocked the Precision Passing Drill in the NFL Pro Bowl Games skills competition, scoring 31 points to lead the AFC to victory.

The impressive performance must have been even sweeter for Carr as it came in the Las Vegas Raiders headquarters and practice facility. The Raiders, of course, benched Carr late in the season. They are reported to be exploring a trade for the Pro Bowl QB, who joined the team in 2014.

ESPN analyst Robert Griffin III found Carr after the competition, and asked him, “Listen, Derek, you’ve thrown touchdown passes before in Vegas, you’ve been on fire. Have you ever been that hot in Las Vegas?”

Carr didn’t miss a beat before responding.

“Not that hot — that’s probably why I’m going somewhere else,” he quipped.

NFL fans found Carr’s performance, and response, interesting.

“Derek has always been an accurate passer. That’s never been his issue,” tweeted NFL Draft analyst Sanjit T.

“Yup it’s gonna take multiple first rounders for this guy,” tweeted Raider Beau.

“Raising his trading value for the Raiders. Super nice dude!!!” tweeted a fan.

The reimagined Pro Bowl Games conclude Sunday at Allegiant Stadium with a  7 versus 7 AFC vs. NFC flag football game. Coverage kicks off at 3 p.m. ET on on ESPN, ABC and Disney XD.
