Athletes’ wardrobe choices have become more of a point of discussion lately, and that continued this week with ESPN Nashville radio host Jared Stillman’s criticisms of the outfit former Clemson Tigers’ quarterback and current Houston Texans’ quarterback DeShaun Watson wore during Monday’s CFP national championship game. But Watson himself (seen above at left with Texans’ teammate DeAndre Hopkins on the sidelines Monday) chimed in with quite the response Tuesday:
I know like I’m going to sound like an old pawpaw but seriously DeShaun Watson is a starting QB in the NFL and he couldn’t dress better? You’re not a corner or a WR. You’re a QB, you’re a brand.

Lmao! My brand is pretty solid JARED! I think I was very comfortable and chill to cheer on my University! https://t.co/TqXap88pLo

From this corner, Watson is in the right. It’s silly for Stillman to be criticizing what Watson chooses to wear, and it’s particularly silly for him to imply that Watson’s clothing choices are linked to his position or have any impact on his “brand.” But Watson’s response was great, and “My brand is pretty solid JARED!” may well become a new meme.
