Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill made a huge impact on the organization in his first season on the team. However, Hill claims that he almost never ended up playing for the Dolphins.

Hill went to an autograph signing on Sunday where he was seen talking with a fan of the Cleveland Browns. He detailed to the fan that he almost ended up a member of the Browns and even actively tried to end up in Cleveland.

“They should’ve paid me bro,” said Hill according to Noah Weiskopf of Sports Illustrated. “I tried to go to Cleveland, I tried that but they didn’t want me.”

It was certainly a surprise at the time to see the Dolphins trade for Hill in the first place. They parted ways with a first, second, and fourth-round pick in the recent 2022 NFL Draft along with a fourth and sixth-round pick in the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft.

Cleveland likely wasn’t willing to part ways with that much draft compensation, which is probably why he didn’t end up on the Browns.

Many Browns fans took notice of this quote from Hill and certainly wish Hill was a member of the Cleveland Browns.

Regardless, it certainly would have been fascinating to see Hill and Amari Cooper play together to catch passes from Deshaun Watson with Nick Chubb in the backfield.

Meanwhile for Miami, they likely wouldn’t have seen Tua Tagovailoa make such a massive jump this past season if they didn’t have Tyreek Hill.

A lot would look different for both teams if Hill did end up in Cleveland. Regardless, Miami is surely happy with their decision to trade for Hill considering how important he was in his first year with the team.
