As Drake Maye and the New England Patriots prepare for an AFC Championship game showdown against the Denver Broncos, a viral post is claiming that Drake Maye is a supporter of United States President Donald Trump. However, many fans have pointed out that there isn’t much to actually back up that claim.
In a social media post this week, prominent right-wing author Nick Adams claimed that the four quarterbacks who led their teams to the conference championship round of the NFL playoffs – Matthew Stafford, Bo Nix, Sam Darnold, and Drake Maye – are all “Pro-Trump” while Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, who threw a game-clinching interception in a loss last weekend, was “Pro-Kamala.”
“Matthew Stafford: Pro-Trump. Sam Darnold: Pro-Trump. Drake Maye: Pro-Trump. Bo Nix: Pro-Trump. Caleb Williams: Pro-Kamala. This is not a coincidence,” Adams wrote in his post.
The post went totally viral on social media, generating more than 2.8 million views along with over 30,000 “likes,” and thousands more reposts and replies. Fans, however, were quick to push back on Adam’s claim that Maye was “Pro-Trump.”
The truth is, Maye has remained almost completely silent on his political views. He has not spoken on any political or social issues and has given no indication about where he leans politically or who he supports. As a result, fans thought it was quite unfair for him to be labeled as a Trump supporter with no evidence at all.
“We literally have no evidence of his political beliefs at all,” one fan wrote in a post on X.
“Making up lies about football to help a political agenda. Just watch sports man,” another fan wrote.
“Literally nobody knows Drake Maye’s politics,” someone else added.
“This isn’t even based on facts. But this is also what people were told not to do… Stick to sports remember,” someone else wrote.
“Drake Maye has made zero political statements,” another fan added.
Fans were equally frustrated that Stafford was characterized as “Pro-Trump” when there is a lot of evidence that he leans left in the political spectrum on several issues.
