United States President Donald Trump has made his appreciation for sports well known and documented over his two terms in office. While the President is most known for his love of golf, which he plays regularly, he is also a big fan of football.
Trump was even the first sitting President to attend the Super Bowl, and is currently campaigning for the Washington Commanders to name their new stadium after himself, something that doesn’t appear totally out of the cards.
Many in the NFL love Trump as well, such as Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker. The love of the President isn’t just held by players, either. John Harbaugh, who was the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens for 18 seasons, has made his feelings about the President well-known and even met with him, alongside his brother Jim, over the offseason.
“I’m going Trump here,” Harbaugh said in 2015. “Build the wall. If you don’t have a border, you don’t have a country. You’re not a country without a border, right?
“At the same time, you’ve got 12 [million] to 15 million hardworking people here. Give them a shot. Give them a chance to become a citizen, so they’re paying taxes. All of us know that it’s not that complicated, but this side doesn’t want to solve it. Neither does [the other] side. Neither one of them want to solve the problem. Solve the problem.”
However, in a shocking turn of events, the Ravens have decided to relieve John of his duties. For what it’s worth, the President is now backing John, the same way John did for him in 2015.
“HIRE JOHN HARBAUGH, FAST,” the president wrote on Truth Social on Wednesday morning. “HE, AND HIS BROTHER, ARE TOTAL WINNERS!!!”
It’ll be interesting to see where the coach lands with the President’s support.
