United States President Donald Trump became the first sitting President to attend the Super Bowl last season, which made it all the more surprising when he revealed that he wouldn’t be in attendance for this year’s rendition in San Francisco.
Trump is attributing the decision to the Super Bowl’s musical performers (Bad Bunny and Green Day) this year, saying, “I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible.”
However, shockingly, the President is still deciding to keep one of his Super Bowl traditions alive. NBC announced that the President will sit down with Tom Llamas for a one-on-one interview.
“NBC News’ Tom Llamas will sit down with President Donald Trump for a one-on-one exclusive interview at the White House tomorrow, Wednesday, February 4,” NBC revealed in a press release.
“A portion of the wide-ranging interview will air on NBC Nightly News with Tom Llamas at 6:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. CT, and an extended version will stream on Top Story with Tom Llamas on NBC News NOW at 7 p.m. ET.”
Will the NFL change its mind on Bad Bunny?
Many were hoping that the league would walk back its decision to have Bad Bunny be the headliner for the halftime show, but it’s something that is not in the cards.
“Bad Bunny represents the global energy and cultural vibrancy that define today’s music scene. As one of the most influential and streamed artists in the world, his unique ability to bridge genres, languages, and audiences makes him an exciting and natural choice to take the Super Bowl halftime stage,” said Jon Baker, the SVP of Global Event Production for the NFL.
“We know his dynamic performances, creative vision, and deep connection with fans will deliver the kind of unforgettable experience we’ve come to expect from this iconic cultural moment.”
While Trump won’t be in attendance, we have a pretty good idea of who he’s rooting for.
“[Patriots owner] Bob Kraft is a friend of mine, and I’ve watched that team, and you’ve got to hand it to him,” Trump said, via Boston Herald. “He had the great team. Now he’s got the great team again. … I hope it’s going to be a tremendous game.”
Super Bowl LX will kick off at 6:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
