Throughout his NFL career, D’Onta Foreman has served as a backup to some of the top running backs in the NFL, behind Derrick Henry with the Tennessee Titans and behind Christian McCaffrey with the Carolina Panthers. But after signing with the Chicago Bears, it sounds like he’s eager to prove he should be a starter.
During his first interview since joining the team this week, D’Onta Foreman revealed that he’s proud of the way he played when he had to start in place of Henry or McCaffrey, saying that he thinks he proved himself.
“When I knew I had the opportunity to be the guy, I tried to do it to the best of my ability,” Foreman said according to Pro Football Talk. “I opened some eyes to show what I bring to the table. I want to build on that and continue to grow.”
Not only does Foreman think he’s capable of being a starting running back in the league, he has quite a bold claim, revealing that he thinks that he is “right there” with some of the league’s top backs like Henry and McCaffrey.
“I can play just as good as some of the best people in the league,” he said. “I think I’m right there with those guys.”
Now, with Chicago, Foreman fully intends to be the team’s starter.
“I came here to try to be the guy,” Foreman said. “If I didn’t come here with that mentality I’d be doing myself a disservice and doing the team a disservice.”
We’ll have to see how it works out for him.
