The Miami Dolphins have been active so far this week. On Monday, the Dolphins sent star cornerback Jalen Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith to the Pittsburgh Steelers in return for safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and draft capital.
Now, the Dolphins are dealing again, according to one prominent league insider.
“Trade: Dolphins are trading a conditional 2026 sixth to the New York Giants for a 2027 seventh-round pick and Darren Waller. Waller is coming out of retirement after agreeing to a one-year deal with the Dolphins worth up to $5 million, per Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey,” reported ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Schefter then followed up with a correction to his initial report.
“Correction on the conditional pick: Giants get a 2026 6th-round pick from Miami. Giants trade the Dolphins a conditional 2027 7th-round pick.”
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Darren Waller stepping back onto the field feels like a power move. Dolphins just added serious firepower,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Buddy has officially gotten over his heartbreak after Kelsey Plum divorced him and is going to live the single life in Miam,” one fan added.
“This was their answer for their tight end problem? Should they just put him on the injured list now or wait until the start of the season,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Dolphins’ newest acquisitions fare in Miami.
