There are a lot of questions surrounding Alabama quarterback Bryce Young heading into the 2023 NFL Draft.

Although most are impressed with his abilities and size, his durability is something that many NFL experts are wondering about. Can he make it through a full season in the league?

One former NFL quarterback who may be able to answer that question is Drew Brees. Brees’ size and durability were questioned at times over the years, so he knows what Young is facing.

Brees gave his opinion on Young on his recent visit to The Dan Patrick Show.

“The only thing I’d be concerned about is maybe durability,” Brees said. “Just based on what you’ve said. If he’s a little bit more slight in stature. Is that going to be an issue making your way through a 17-game season, and some of the abuse your body takes. … Bottom line, you turn on the film with Bryce Young and the guy’s got talent. The guy makes plays, the guy throws with anticipation. He is a smart player, he knows where to go with the football. He can avoid, right, I think a lot of playing the quarterback position now is can you avoid, slide, move, buy yourself a little extra time to be able to make that play. That’s the evolution of the quarterback position we’re starting to see.”

As some may recall, Brees almost became a member of the Miami Dolphins while Nick Saban was still the head coach. But the Dolphins’ medical staff didn’t think Brees had healed from a knee injury and the team passed on him. Many have said over the years that had Brees passed his physical, Saban may have remained in Miami instead of becoming Alabama’s head coach.
