The Philadelphia Eagles are on top of the football world after a dominant 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl. Still, Philadelphia isn’t content to sit back and rest while the other teams around the league get better around them.
The Eagles have already gotten to work on their roster, and as much as that means adding pieces, it also means making tough decisions when it comes to the players currently on the roster.
On Monday, a major roster casualty was reported.
“Eagles are releasing six-time Pro-Bowl CB Darius Slay, per sources. If he is designated a post-June 1 release, the Eagles will save $4.3 million against the cap,” reported ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Let’s remember Eagles fans they also released Fletcher Cox but then were able to bring him back on a 1 year deal. If this is the end of the road for Slay in Philly, then thank you for all that you did for our team!” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Smart move , save money this way, he knows he wouldn’t be as much involved next year , returning to lions was more likely and better scenario. Eagles save more money in cap space , expect more releases from Eagles to make room for a trade in Myles Garrett,” one fan added.
“Big veteran presence on the market. The younger studs pushed him out of Philly,” added someone else.
It’ll be interesting to see where Slay ends up in free agency.
