Eddie Lacy

Eddie Lacy’s weight had long been a topic of discussion in Green Bay and around the NFL, and became quite the joke online whenever a photo of him would surface exposing his weight.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy was adamant in January about Lacy losing weight. “Eddie’s got a lot of work to do,” McCarthy said, via Packers.com. “I’m stating the obvious. His offseason last year was not what it should be and he never recovered from it. He cannot play at the weight he did this year.”

That appeared to be all that Lacy needed to hear, as Lacy is now sporting a trim, cut look:

Pictured with Lacy is P90X creator Tony Horton. Horton offered up his program to Lacy in order to help him lose weight shortly after Mike McCarthy said that it was now or never for Lacy.

“The Packers will get him ready for the season. My job will be to get the weight off and help him eat better,” Horton told TMZ.

Lacy’s stats have gone down every year that he has been in the league, especially from the 2014 and 2015 seasons. He went from 1,139 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns in 2014, to 758 yards and three touchdowns in 2015. The Packers hope the weight loss and better diet can help Lacy get back to his better form.

Now, it’s only March, and there’s plenty of time for Lacy to put weight back on. It’s a long offseason. But he’s certainly off to a great start.
