You could make a solid case that if Olivia Manning never gave birth to Peyton and Eli, Tom Brady would have so many more Super Bowl rings. That’s the theory that Eli presented during Julian Edelman’s new podcast, saying that the former Patriots QB must hate Manning’s mother.

Manning was a guest on Edelman’s new Games with Names podcast, which is co-hosted by Sam Morril and produced by Edelman’s Coast Productions and Superdigital. The discussion naturally turned towards the two Super Bowls in which Manning’s New York Giants defeated Edelman and Brady’s New England Patriots. Eli said that while he’s been around Brady plenty of times since then, he never brings up the games because he knows what a sore spot they are for the current Tampa Bay quarterback.

“I mean you’ve obviously been around Tom [Brady] a bunch, and I’ve been around him and I never mention that game to him, you know never bring it up,” said Manning. “I mean the guy’s got six MVPs and seven Super Bowls. He brings it up. Like it still bothers him. That game, especially that one just because they win that game, they go down as the greatest team in the history of the NFL and they can’t say that because the Dolphins still have that undefeated season. I got more letters from Dolphins players and coaches and every time I saw them, they’d thank me.”

Eli then added, jokingly, that Brady probably rues the days that the Manning brothers were born.

“[Tom Brady] hates us. He hates my mom. If it weren’t for Olivia Manning, Tom would have like twelve Super Bowls probably.”

Even if those losses keep Brady up at night, it’s hard to feel too bad for the guy with seven Super Bowl rings.
