Last week, the Dallas Cowboys made the controversial decision to part ways with longtime running back Ezekiel Elliott, who the team drafted with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. And it seems another longtime Dallas running back is not exactly a fan of the move.

In an Instagram comment, Cowboys legend Emmitt Smith blasted the team for the decision to cut Ezekiel Elliott, saying that teams have “no love” for their players.

“Wow, this is amazing to me—no disrespect to Malik Davis. Our starting running back is gone, and his backup has a broken leg? the NFL stands for not for long,” Smith wrote, according to Fox News. “Everyone else, go get your money because they have no love for you. It don’t make sense and this is one of those things that make you (shake) your head. Thank you Z for giving everything you have including (playing) injured all of last year. This is why, the NFL stands for (not for long). Everybody else go get your money because they have no love for you.”

Smith was in a similar position during his time with the Cowboys as he was released by the team before the start of the 2003 season when new head coach Bill Parcells decided he wanted to go with a younger running back corps and cut the veteran loose. Smith made him pay for the move, however, rushing for over 1,100 yards two more times with the Arizona Cardinals to retire as the NFL’s all-time rushing leader.

We’ll have to see how Elliott responds to being cut.
