Zeke is back in Dallas. The Dallas Cowboys signed veteran running back Ezekiel Elliott to a short-term deal this week.
Elliott returns to the Cowboys, the team that drafted him back in 2016. The former Ohio State standout was one of the best running backs in the NFL during the early chunk of his career. But issues picked up as he aged, ultimately leading to the Cowboys parting ways with Elliott.
But Zeke is back now in 2024.
Elliott made the news official with a post on X Monday afternoon.
“RUN IT BACK,” Elliott boasted in a tweet.

Elliott has rushed for nearly 10,000 yards in his NFL career. Through 120 career games, the St. Louis native has recorded 8,904 yards on 2,065 career rushes. He’s scored 71 career rushing touchdowns and has posted four seasons with double-digit touchdowns.
Elliott led the NFL in rushing in 2016 and 2018 with 1,631 and 1,434 yards. He also led the NFL in rushing attempts those years with 322 and 304.
But since he rushed for 1,357 yards in 2019, the veteran running back has only hit the 1,000-yard plateau once. That came in 2021 when he rushed for 1,002 yards.
The Cowboys remain in an interesting position. Despite cries that the team would go “all in” this offseason, they really didn’t amount to much. CeeDee Lamb still needs a new contract, and so does quarterback Dak Prescott. Signing Elliott may work for some fan service, but most fans have voiced their displeasure all offseason.
Still, Zeke is ready, so we’ll see how things go.
