Ezekiel Elliott made a bit of a homecoming this weekend when his New England Patriots went to Dallas to take on the Dallas Cowboys – his former team where he played for seven seasons. But that homecoming didn’t exactly go well for Elliott.
Not only did the Cowboys crush the Patriots 38-3, giving Bill Belichick the most lopsided loss of his entire head coaching career, but Elliott himself had a pretty poor performance with just six carries for 16 yards along with two catches for six yards.
It was a pretty brutal showing, and Elliott didn’t have much to say about the performance in front of his former fans after the game.
“I wish it was a better outcome. Great to see the Dallas fans. Probably all I got to say about that,” Elliott said according to Pro Football Talk.
The Cowboys did honor Elliott with a highlight video played on the scoreboard before the game and the crowd gave the longtime star a standing ovation, but Elliott said he was simply focused on playing the game and didn’t pay much attention to the spectacle.
“I honestly wasn’t too emotional,” Elliott said. “I was locked in and focused on the game ahead.”
