Over the past few seasons, Ezekiel Elliott has been one of the most high-profile running backs in the league since he was drafted at the top of the first round by the Dallas Cowboys back in 2016. But after parting ways with the Cowboys this offseason, he is now a free agent looking for a new team. And it sounds like he has interest from one AFC squad.
As league insider Jordan Schultz reports, Ezekiel Elliott is visiting the New England Patriots as the team looks to bolster its running back position.
“Source: 2x All-Pro RB Ezekiel Elliott is visiting the #Patriots today. This could impact the RB-needy AFC East, as well as the Dalvin Cook derby, since he and Elliott are considered the top backs available. Zeke looked terrific in the videos he posted of his workouts,” Schultz wrote in a tweet on Saturday morning.

Obviously this is big news for Elliott, the Patriots, and the rest of the NFL world. As a result, it generated quite a few reactions on social media.
Zeke would be a great fit for the Patriots. Could take on the short-yardage responsibilities Damien Harris had, is a good pass blocker, underrated football IQ, and would be a good veteran presence for a young RB room. I don’t believe he’s as “washed” as many people think https://t.co/Hzsgo3sw9Y

Based on their actions, the #Patriots are gonna add another running back at some point. I’d be all for it being Zeke. At this stage of his career, much better off platooning with Rhamondre. Think he’d be really effective in that role. https://t.co/GJKewIw0fy

Heading into the 2016 Draft, Ezekiel Elliott was labeled “the most complete running back to enter the #NFL since Adrian Peterson in ‘07”
In addition to his rushing, blocking and ball security, Zeke has 305 career catches for 2336 yards and 12 TDs#Patriots https://t.co/oq5SS08knf

Zeke has looked the same in his workout videos for 4 seasons. Wouldn’t be a bad move for the Pats, but no need to hype up workout videos. He is what he is. https://t.co/DibqGBZsdb

Pats could use RB depth. And Zeke looked quick working out with those garbage cans recently. Worth a look, I guess? https://t.co/CGghXpZBii

We’ll have to see if this visit ultimately leads to a contract offer. If it does, it will be interesting to see what happens to the rest of the running backs market as a result.
