On Tuesday night, information broke about Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White, who is reportedly the victim of an alleged extortion attempt that is being looked into by the FBI.
Michelle Gervais and TJ Grimaldi, White’s lawyers released a statement on the matter to NFL Media, which was later relayed in a post from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on X.
“The FBI and other appropriate authorities are currently looking into an extortion attempt against Rachaad White. Illegal and defamatory threats and demands against Rachaad and his family will be met with zero tolerance. We will continue to exercise all legal avenues to protect Rachaad’s rights as a victim of extortion.”

White has of course been a staple in the NFL as the feature running back throughout most of his three-year tenure in Tampa Bay despite perhaps taking a bit of a backseat to rookie running back Bucky Irving this past season.
Still, White was a weapon for the Buccaneers in the red zone, finding the endzone nine times in 2024.
Currently, there is no further information as to what kind of request whoever is behind this extortion attempt is asking of White. Or if the FBI has any lead on who the suspect in the case is.
Regardless, it is undoubtedly tough to see any NFL player, much less one who has had a ton of success at the NFL level like White has, have to go through this situation.
