The NFL world was struck with some unfortunate news last month when free agent tight end Foster Moreau revealed that he has been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

This was discovered while undergoing a physical with the New Orleans Saints.

He revealed that he would be stepping away from football while he battles this awful diagnosis. However, that may not be the case after he made a surprising decision on Tuesday.

Reports emerged on Tuesday that Moreau was in New Orleans to finish the physical that he started last month. This may indicate that he will at least attempt to play football next year.

Football obviously comes second to the long-term health of Moreau as he battles Hodgkin’s lymphoma. However, many fans are pleased about this update for the free-agent tight end.

If the Saints or any other team ultimately did sign Moreau, they could theoretically place him on the non-football injury list. He could then activated any time after the first four games of the season.

While this update appears to be extremely promising for Moreau’s prospects of playing football again next year, that may simply be wishful thinking.

We saw a similar situation last year with Houston Texans rookie wide receiver John Metchie. He was diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia last offseason and missed the entire 2022-23 season.

Regardless, it appears very clear that Moreau has the unwavering support of many NFL fans as he battles this diagnosis.
