The Indianapolis Colts currently have the No. 4 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft and could potentially trade up for an even higher pick. It’s widely expected that the team will use their first-round pick on a quarterback, and there’s a good chance that the rookie quarterback is the team’s starter even to begin the season. But new Colts quarterback Gardner Minshew doesn’t sound too worried about that.
During his first press conference after signing with the team as a free agent, Gardner Minshew said that he is just in Indianapolis to “work hard and have fun,” and that he’s not really all that concerned about what his role will be.
“I really don’t have any expectations,” Minshew said of his role in Indianapolis, according to Pro Football Talk. “I’ve come here to work hard and to have fun. I think if we do that every day we’re going to end up in a good place. Just get better every day and we’ll end up where we do.”
As the Colts likely look to bring in a talented rookie, singing Minshew could turn out to be the best possible situation as the veteran quarterback has the experience to share, but has no expectation to start or even play regular snaps.
We’ll have to see how it all works out in Indianapolis.
