The New York Jets and their fans had extremely high hopes for the season, but those hopes were quickly dealt a big blow during the team’s first offensive drive of the season when Aaron Rodgers went down with a season-ending ankle injury. But star wide receiver doesn’t want the fans to give up hope.
During an appearance on The PFT PM Podcast this week, Garrett Wilson pleaded for fans to “stick with us” as the team tries to figure things out after the sudden loss of Aaron Rodgers.
“I would just tell them to stick with us,” Wilson said according to Pro Football Talk. “No one wants this more than us. We’re working every single day to make sure that y’all have a lot to root for on Sundays. You know, with that said . . . our whole season had a big change in it [16] days ago. And then for us that was a big adjustment. We’re still figuring it out offensively, and it’s not just for us to put one dude on the dart board, you know. You got to put that whole offense on the dart board because none of us are playing to our standard right now. We’re going to continue to keep grinding to make sure that’s not the case any more.”
The Jets are 1-2 on the season with the lone win coming during their opening game against the Buffalo Bills. We’ll have to see if the team can rebound from their struggles and put together a strong season, even without Aaron Rodgers.
