Wide receiver George Pickens’ frustration with the Pittsburgh Steelers boiled over during Thursday night’s game.

Friday, that frustration culminated in a social media post with two words: “Free me.”

Multiple Steelers fan sites reported that Pickens posted an image with those words at the bottom of an Instagram post, implying … well, no one’s sure what the second-year player meant. Does he wants out of Pittsburgh? Or is he wanting more targets?

Pickens quickly deleted the post, however, but at some point he apparently deleted all images showing him with the Steelers. He also reportedly unfollowed Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and quarterback Kenny Pickett.

Those are not the actions of someone just wanting to see more targets.

The former Georgia star has had three huge games this season, but has been a non-factor in other games with the Steelers’ low-voltage offense.

In Thursday night’s win against the Tennessee Titans. Pickens got targeted five times and caught only two passes for minus one yard. Pickens appeared unhappy during the game, and did not celebrate with his teammates after Diontae Johnson’s winning touchdown catch late in the game.

He was also reportedly the first one out of the locker room afterward, ditching reporters.

So something terrible is brewing with Pickens and the Steelers, and the situation won’t be resolved on social media. Fans had their own thoughts about the matter on X/Twitter.
