While the New York Giants were able to get a huge victory on Sunday in London against the Green Bay Packers, the trip did not go as planned for Giants punter Jamie Gillan.
Gillan has been stuck in London since the game on Sunday due to an issue with his passport. Gillian, who is a native of Scotland, originally came to the United States with his father on a NATO visa.
This is where the issues arise, as he never formally changed the designation on his passport to a work visa and was not allowed to travel home with the Giants.
#Giants P Jamie Gillan remains in London following the trip over the weekend as he works through some passport issues, sources tell me and @TomPelissero. “The Scottish Hammer” is expected to fly back to the U.S. on Thursday, though the team will work out punters just in case.

It appears that New York was prepared to bring in another punter if Gillan was not able to return in time for the team’s upcoming game against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.
Luckily for the Giants, more details emerged about this bizarre situation on Wednesday, and according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Gillan is now on a flight home from London.
Update: Jamie Gillan is on a flight back to the U.S. now, per source. The Scottish Hammer coming home. https://t.co/SBK5nXB1U6

The punter with the fitting nickname of the “Scottish Hammer” should now be all set to play in the Giants’ upcoming game, which is a relief for many Giants fans.

One has to wonder how the Giants didn’t catch this possibility coming up when they knew they were heading to London to play.
Regardless, Gillan and the team will look to keep the momentum going on an impressive 4-1 start that has already seen them reach their season win total from last season.
