Kayvon Thibodeaux New York Giants New York Giants defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux (5) goes down during a preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals at MetLife Stadium on August 21, 2022, in East Rutherford. Nfl Ny Giants Preseason Game Vs Bengals Bengals At Giants

There was a ton of controversy surrounding Sunday night’s preseason game between the New York Giants and Cincinnati Bengals after a tense moment between former first-round pick Kayvon Thibodeaux and Bengals tight end Thaddeus Moss, son of Hall-of-Fame wide receiver Randy Moss.

The play occurred when Moss went low on a block on Thibodeaux, which caused the Giants star to exit the game with a knee injury.

Many were concerned that Thibodeaux may have suffered a serious knee injury on this play, but the diagnosis revealed on Monday is a relief for Giants fans.

According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, initial tests on Thibodeaux’s knee are that he has suffered a sprained MCL on the play and will likely be sidelined for three to four weeks.

Luckily, Thibodeaux seems to have avoided any type of injury to his ACL or meniscus, and the Giants appear to be hopeful that he could be ready for their regular-season opener against the Tennessee Titans.

While mant NFL pundits such as Rich Eisen are calling for disciplinary actions against Moss, it appears that there will be nothing done, mostly because even though the hit appeared dirty, it was technically a legal cut block. This puts into question whether or not the NFL should change the ruling on that type of block to avoid dangerous plays in the future.

Luckily for everyone involved, both players escaped without serious injury, and hopefully, Thibodeaux is able to return to the field for the Giants shortly.
