Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers essentially called out his teammates on Tuesday, saying that some of them deserved to be benched over poor play. That did not sit well with former Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings.
Rodgers made his weekly appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday. After weeks of saying that he wanted to hear less negative talk from his coaches and teammates over the team’s poor offensive play, he switched his tune and said that it was time for some of his teammates to shape up or ship out.
“Guys who are making too many mistakes, shouldn’t be playing,” said Rodgers. “Gotta start cutting some reps. Maybe guys who aren’t playing, maybe give them a chance.”
Rodgers also seemed to absolve himself of any blame for the Packers’ poor play, though the jury is out on that.
Afterward, Jennings, who played for the Packers between 2006 and 2012 and was inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame in 2022, responded to Rodgers’ comments, saying that they were out of line.
Former Packers WR Greg Jennings on Aaron Rodgers' comments today on McAfee:
"You can't do this … You can't sit down on a show and start talking about who should and shouldn't be playing because of mental errors."

“You can’t do this, said Jennings, per Fox Sports’ Carmen Vitali. “You can’t sit down on a show and start talking about who should and shouldn’t be playing because of mental errors.”
Rodgers has been very outspoken all year long when it comes to his teammates, the quality of play from his wide receivers, and a desire to see the team sign or trade certain players. To say nothing of how outspoken he is off the field about topics that he may or may not have any expertise in.
