This week, Carolina Panthers defensive end Henry Anderson returned to practice and hopes to return to the field for the team shortly, but the reason he was sidelined in the first place is getting quite a bit of attention across the NFL world.

During an interview this week, Henry Anderson revealed that he suffered a “minor stroke” back in October and has been sidelined since. Anderson said that when he first felt the symptoms it felt like his legs were going to sleep and that the sensation eventually moved throughout his other extremities. When he began to slur his words, his wife brought him to the hospital for treatment.

“I mean, I didn’t really know much about strokes before it happened. And then after the fact that I definitely found out a lot more about them and realize that I got pretty lucky avoiding anything serious,” Anderson said of his stroke, according to the team website. “I mean, I feel totally fine. Like I said, it’s not like an injury like a knee or shoulder or something that you’ve got to rehab and get the strength back and everything. This was just something that like, I felt pretty much back to normal as soon as they got the thing (blood clot) out.”

It’s certainly a scary condition, and it’s good to see that Anderson appears to have made a recovery.
