The Houston Texans have 23 different players on the injury report heading into this week’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals – an extremely high number relative to the rest of the league. But it doesn’t sound like head coach DeMeco Ryans is prepared to use that as an excuse.

During his press conference this week, DeMeco Ryans reacted to the team’s misfortune by simply saying “things happen, that’s life.”

“It doesn’t stop our process,” Ryans said. “We go through the same process. Things happen, that’s life. Things don’t go your way all the time, so I continue to smile through it. We’re going to have our best guys out there. Whoever is available, we’re going to have our best guys out there and we’re going to play the Texan brand of football.”

The Texans were able to overcome an unfortunate injury situation during this week’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after Ka’imi Fairbairn suffered an injury that kept him out for the remainder of the game. In his place, running back Dare Ogunbowale stepped up as the team’s emergency kicker, making a field goal and handling kickoffs for the team.

We’ll have to see how the Texans overcome their injuries this week.
