When Howie Roseman is on the other end of a phone call, other general managers around the NFL may want to think about putting down the phone. Roseman did it again on Saturday, as the Eagles’ GM and executive vice president was able to acquire Detroit Lions running back D’Andre Swift for a 2025 fourth-round pick and a swap of seventh-round picks.
Swift became the fourth player from the University of Georgia that Roseman has acquired since the start of the draft on Thursday. The 24-year-old running back and Philadelphia native joins Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith and Kelee Ringo, as the Eagles completed a haul of former Georgia Bulldogs.
The Eagles already have Nakobe Dean and Jordan Davis on their active roster, so Philadelphia is close to becoming Georgia North if it hasn’t already. Roseman has acquired so many former Bulldogs, that his loyalty to his alma mater — the University of Florida — may be called into question. He even joked about that during an appearance with ESPN’s Rece Davis on Saturday.
“I’m sure I’m out of the Florida Alumni Association as we speak,” Roseman quipped.

It definitely seems to be a sound strategy, especially when considering that Georgia won its second straight championship, despite having a record 15 players — including Davis and Dean — selected in the 2022 NFL Draft. If it’s up to Roseman, the Bulldogs may be able to reach that number again in 2023.
