The Indianapolis Colts spent the first half of the season looking like the best team in the NFL, behind a resurgent year from quarterback Daniel Jones, who won the starting job after a camp battle for the role with Anthony Richardson. The Colts sported the top offense in the league under Jones, and the franchise made a trade with the New York Jets for star cornerback Sauce Gardner to help shore up the other side of the ball.

Unfortunately for Indianapolis and its fans, things have spiraled out of control. The Colts have lost four of their last five games, and Jones is now out for the season after suffering an Achilles tear.

The Colts have responded by signing 44-year-old quarterback Phillip Rivers to their practice squad. However, another veteran who spent some time with the franchise before retiring is making it clear that he isn’t joining Rivers in coming out of retirement.

Jeff Saturday revealed this morning on (Get Up) that he will not be coming out of retirement to play again for the Colts. At age 50, Saturday knows his place,” reported ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Wednesday.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“The colts threw Peyton manning away like trash. What makes Saturday think they would accept his corpse? It’s a trash organization,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“The rumor itself highlights the enduring star power and influence of veteran players like Saturday. His connection to the team is so strong that fans and media are willing to believe in an impossible return, even at age 50,” someone else added.

All in all, it’s probably for the best that Saturday doesn’t put his body through an NFL game at his age.
