The Indianapolis Colts selected their quarterback of the future in Florida standout Anthony Richardson with the No. 4 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. As they move towards the future at the position, they cut bait with veteran quarterback Nick Foles.
The former Super Bowl MVP played in two games for the Colts last season and struggled heavily in his appearances. He threw for just 224 yards and zero touchdowns and four interceptions.
This led to the team parting ways with Foles on Friday after only one year with the organization.
We have released QB Nick Foles.

Foles ended up being the odd man out in a quarterback room including Gardner Minshew, Anthony Richardson, and Sam Ehlinger.
Given Foles’ experience at the highest level, it is a somewhat surprising move from the Colts as he could have been a mentor for Anthony Richardson. Many around the NFL world offered their opinion on the move.
I’d be ok with signing him so he can retire an eagle. No big expectations for him to do anything, but he said he wanted to retire an Eagle. Bring him home! pic.twitter.com/AyOx8mQlU7

Meanwhile, Eagles fans certainly seem eager to bring him back to the team he won a championship with.

At 34 years old, Foles’ future in the NFL certainly may be in question, especially after his poor season last year in Indianapolis. However, he has certainly shown in the past that he can play in a pinch and be a positive locker-room presence on a winning team.
