The Indianapolis Colts are one of the biggest surprises in the NFL in recent memory. The Colts are 5-1, good for first place in the AFC. Daniel Jones beat out Anthony Richardson Sr. for the starting job and now looks like one of the best quarterbacks in a conference loaded with them.
Richardson, who is trying to find his place in the league after losing the starting job, suffered an orbital fracture prior to Week Six’s game against the Arizona Cardinals while warming up and subsequently landed on the injured reserve. Now, he’s been replaced on both the depth chart and on the roster as well.
“The Colts plan to sign veteran quarterback Brett Rypien to the practice squad, per sources. Rypien, last with Cincinnati, provides depth for Indy’s QB room with Anthony Richardson to IR,” reported ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler on Twitter on Tuesday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“The agenda is officially over We might never see him again, he’ll be on another team next time he resurfaces,” one Richardson truther wrote on Twitter.
“Da Colts could sign whateva quarterback they want, it doesn’t matta, they got Daniel Jones. Danny Dimes for MVP,” one fan added.
“He has 4 career starts. Ideally he won’t be making his 5th start with Indianapolis,” another fan wrote.
It’ll be interesting to see what’s next for Richardson.
