In his ongoing quest to become America’s Most Blandly Likable Athlete, J.J. Watt flew more than 20 teammates to his cabin in Wisconsin to celebrate his birthday to train and bond and stuff, and then posted on social media enough to make sure everyone knew about it.

According to ESPN, players present at Watt’s home include Texans Jadeveon Clowney, Kevin Johnson, Cecil Shorts III, Brian Cushing, Shane Lechler (yes a soon to be 40 year old punter #midlifecrisis) and former Texan Ben Jones, who recently signed with the Titans. Sounds like a pretty good time… I mean, it sounds like a productive environment for bettering yourself on and off the field in pursuit of being the best football player and American citizen you can be, which is basically Watt’s credo.

A lot of people looooove J.J. Watt because of stuff like this, but it’s hard not to feel like he’s trying a bit too hard. Like, either he actually flew these guys out to have an awesome birthday party and then lied about it or he truly brought them to Wisconsin just to work out, which is super lame.

With Derek Jeter retired and Russell Wilson dating a celebrity, Watt seems well positioned to claim the aforementioned AMBLA award (which we just made up), though Mike Trout is coming for the crown.
