With newly-acquired quarterback Deshaun Watson suspended for the first 11 games of the Cleveland Browns‘ 2022-23 NFL season, veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett has served as the team’s starting quarterback. But now with Watson allowed to practice ahead of his return to the field, it’s set up a little bit of a challenge during practice as the coaching staff must balance the reps between Brissett as he prepares for the next game and Watson as he prepares for his season debut on Dec. 4.

When asked how he balances getting two quarterbacks ready at the same time, Jacoby Brissett simply deferred to his coaches about the weird situation.

“How do I? That’s not my job to balance it,” Brissett said prior to Wednesday’s practice, according to the Akron Beacon Journal. “It’s coach’s job to balance how he splits things up and stuff like that. I just have to go out there and prepare like I always prepare. Do my job and then control what I can control. That’s something I can’t control, and I’m honestly not trying to.”

Regardless of the strange circumstances, Brissett doesn’t sound all that worried about his preparation.

“We’ve talked about a lot of things going into practice about how things will be split up and I feel confident that I’ll be more than fine going into the game,” Brissett said.
