After suffering a shoulder injury during Sunday afternoon’s game against the Chicago Bears, MVP candidate Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles was doubtful to play in this weekend’s game against the Dallas Cowboys, even though he insisted there was still a chance he would play. But it’s looking more and more like he’s not going to play on Sunday.

As reported by Philadelphia Eagles beat writer Chris Franklin of NJ.com, Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said Gardner Minshew was expected to start in place of Hurts during this weekend’s game.

“Nick Sirianni said it’s looking like Gardner Minshew will start Saturday against the Dallas Cowboys. Says Jalen Hurts did his best to get ready but not improved enough to play him,” Franklin said in a Tweet.

While Jalen Hurts will miss this weekend’s game, there is a bit of good news for the Eagles in that the injury is not considered serious and he is expected to be recovered by the playoffs. Additionally, the team only needs to win one of their next three games to clinch the division title and a first-round bye in the playoffs.

While it’s never good to lose a star quarterback, it’s probably safe to say the Eagles will be just fine.
