It’s mid August which means many NFL teams are mixing up their training camps by holding scrimmages and joint practices with other NFL teams hoping to get a more competitive real game type of practice. Today we saw the Rams and Raiders hold a joint practice and with fans and media looking on, one unexpected thing really stuck out from the practice.

Renfrow spoke to the media afterwards and spoke about his unexpected success against Ramsey, who is thought to be one of the better corners and defensive players in the league.

You’ve got to admire the confidence, especially coming from a guy who has yet to break more than four touchdowns or 700 yards receiving in a season.  Obviously Renfrow’s big day and his comments afterwards seemed to turn some heads including Ramsey’s who tweeted the following after Renfrow’s comments got a lot of traction online.

While Ramsey may not be in midseason form on the football field, he certainly is on Twitter. Given his consistency during his time in the league, I think there is little reason for concern that Ramsey’s bad day of practice could carry over to the regular season. It’s August. It’s practice. It happens.

But perhaps there is something to Renfrow breaking out in his third year in the league. Gruden seemed to be dialing up a lot of plays to him today, even going against the revered Ramsey. Clearly, Renfrow’s confidence in himself  isn’t isolated to just him. While Ramsey may not deserve the judgment from today’s practice perhaps Renfrow is one to watch and maybe target in your upcoming fantasy draft.
