The Buffalo Bills haven’t exactly made the same excuses for their playoff ouster as that of the San Francisco 49ers. At the same time, a former Bills player claims that his now-former team would’ve advanced to the AFC Championship game without the weather. That’s right, the same weather and elements the Cincinnati Bengals played in. And they weathered the storm in a convincing 27-10 victory.

Isaiah McKenzie, who is now with the Colts, is convinced that if the game were played indoors, there would’ve been a different outcome. And he said as such during a recent appearance on the Go Long podcast with Tyler Dunne.

“The Bengals ran basic routes; maybe we should’ve did that, ran basic routes,” McKenzie said via SI.com. “Like out routes, go balls, you know, instead of running routes that you have to be going lateral or coming back to the football, or turning and running curls and things like that. If we were in a dome, it would have been a totally different game.”

Ja’Marr Chase, who hauled in six receptions for 61 yards and a touchdown in the 17-point win, wasn’t having it.

Chase took to Twitter and replied to McKenzie’s comments, “My first time ever playing ina snow bro. just gotta play at the end of the day roun.”

The Bengals play host to the Bills on Nov. 5, 2023, in a game that will be aired on Sunday Night Football. While McKenzie will be elsewhere, seeing if Ja’Marr Chase remembers his comments will be interesting.
