Joe Burrow spoke publicly about his upcoming contract extension on Tuesday, and longtime teammate Ja’Marr Chase had much to say about it.

The superstar Cincinnati Bengals quarterback commented on the talks about an extension for the first time. Burrow said he was involved with discussions and is also mindful of what an extension would mean for those around him. Namely and most likely, receivers Chase and Tee Higgins.

Chase and Higgins commented on their quarterback’s move to keep them in mind. Via Charlie Goldsmith, Chase said on Burrow, “It means he wants to win. He’s not a big guy on money. He knows he’s the best quarterback in the league. He doesn’t need the money to prove that. He wants to look out for the people around him and keep the team around him.”

Burrow and Chase have had a relationship since the quarterback arrived on the LSU campus. Since the Bengals drafted the former LSU standout receiver, it doesn’t look like it’s changing soon. Nor does it look like Higgins will be going anywhere, either. The former Tennessee star was the subject of rumors that general manager Duke Tobin shot down earlier this off-season.

If so, the Bengals would keep that core intact for years and be a perennial force to be reckoned with in the AFC and the entire NFL.

The NFL world had plenty to say about Ja’Marr Chase and his words for Joe Burrow after his significant move.
