The Detroit Lions’ recent win over the Minnesota Vikings featured a very special moment for wide receiver Jameson Williams, who scored his first NFL touchdown of the season.
The moment was special because it had almost been a year since Williams left the 2022 National Championship Game against Georgia with a torn ACL. Despite the injury, the Lions took a chance and picked him in the first round of the 2002 NFL Draft. That risk is now starting to pay off.
When asked where he keeps the football from his first NFL touchdown catch, Williams said he keeps it in a special place.
“I ain’t gonna lie. The ball, it’s at my house right now. It’s in my bed,” Williams said, per Brad Galli of WXYZ ABC 7 Detroit
The 41-yard touchdown was Williams’s only catch of the afternoon but clearly, it won’t be his last.
While at Alabama, Williams became the Tide’s main downfield threat, amassing over 1,500 and 15 touchdowns in his one and only year there, garnering him first-team All-SEC and All-American honors.
The speedster now has his first NFL touchdown and the Lions may be on the verge of making the playoffs in his rookie season, sparking the potential for many more touchdowns ahead.
