On Wednesday, NFL owners made their decision on the future of the highly discussed “Tush Push” play for the 2025 NFL season. And it turns out, former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce played a significant factor in making sure the play remains a legal one.
The “Tush Push” has of course been a played perfected by the Eagles organization. And Kelce played a huge part in making the play as unstoppable as it has been over the years prior to his retirement from football prior to last season.
Ultimately, those who want the play banned believe that the play is perhaps too dangerous for teams to be running. And according to Kelce, this couldn’t be further from the truth, which he has outlined recently on social media.
On Wednesday, Kelce attended the league meetings alongside Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie and assistant GM Jon Ferrari to try and convince NFL owners around the league that the play should not be banned. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the trio made a “passionate, video-supported and data-driven” pitch on the matter before each owner voted on the legality of the play.

Ultimately, Kelce’s efforts were seemingly enough to avoid a Tush Push ban. 24 votes towards a ban were needed to make the play illegal this coming season, and only 22 votes to ban the play came in, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

This vote means the Tush Push will live on for at least one more year, though this likely will not be the last meeting on the matter, which will continue to be a topic of discussion for years to come.
Some could argue that Kelce isn’t exactly an objective party in the matter given his past allegiances to the Eagles. But regardless, Kelce seems to have at least convinced some that the Tush Push should continue to remain legal.
